Amelia Ann Houck

Amelia Ann Houck, 75, of Arden, NC, passed away July 17, 2025. Born October 3, 1949, in Douglas, Wyoming, she was a daughter of the late Harold James Houck and Amelia Amos Houck. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Thomas F. Jones, III.

She grew up in Pisgah Forest and graduated Brevard High School in 1967.

Amelia led an interesting life and loved education, research and travel. She worked in nuclear radiology and was an award-winning educator for many years in both Transylvania and Henderson County public schools.

She recently earned a PhD in Archaeogenetics and had an extensive education with degrees in: Radiology, sociology, anthropology, education at WCU, UNC Asheville and Central Piedmont College.

Amelia is survived by two brothers: Randall J. Houck (Dorothy) and Michael H. Houck (Wanda), two nieces; Katie Benson and Rebecca Houck, one nephew: Tyler Houck and a great niece: Emily Houck.

Funeral services will be private.
