Benjamin Charles Rogers

Benjamin Charles Rogers’s story began on October 5, 1973, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He transitioned from this world on October 6, 2026, just twenty-three minutes past his birthday, at the Four Seasons Elizabeth House in Hendersonville, North Carolina.

Ben’s life was deeply defined by family, friends, food, and fun. Growing up in Brevard from the age of two, his childhood was filled with outdoor adventures, from learning to swim at Camp Straus to skateboarding with friends all over town. Later in life, he worked as a lifeguard at Sliding Rock in the Pisgah National Forest.

After graduating from Brevard High School, Ben attended Brevard College and Western Carolina University, where he studied computers, information technology, and vintage 80s movies. Making lifelong friends along the way, learning was a true passion for him. He was extremely smart, creative, and versatile, building a career that spanned land surveying, installing hospital fetal monitors, sports car restoration, and global information technology support—a role that allowed him to travel all over the world.

Ben was simply in love with life and people. Travel, cars, and recycling were his passions, right alongside singing karaoke whenever he could. He could never resist a crab feast or a fresh tray of sushi. He once traveled to France just to watch the Tour de France in person. Alongside his dad Don Rogers, he rode bicycles all the way across North Carolina from the mountains to the sea, and conquered mountain trails across the country—adventures that stood out as some of the best moments of his life. He enthusiastically shared his love of Star Wars, snowboarding, skateboarding, music, and cars with his beloved nephews and neighborhood boys, leaving a legacy of joy and mentorship behind him.

Ben was a courageous man who never gave up, valiantly fighting the cruelties of diabetes and cancer over six hard years. His family is profoundly thankful for all who cared for and loved Ben, especially the doctors and nurses at Transylvania Regional Hospital and the Elizabeth House, who provided comfort and care in his final days.

Ben will always be remembered and loved by his mother, Kathryn Rogers; his brother, John Mark Rogers (Tracy Rogers); and his sister, Jennifer King (Kyle King). He is also survived by his beloved nephews: Christopher Rogers, Nicholas Rogers as well as Cole King, Jackson King and Noah King; his cousins: Macky Rogers, Susan Totera, Suzanne d'Aquin, Allyson Goodart (John Goodart and their son Grant), Aunt Janet d'Aquin; so many special friends; and especially the love of his life, Christy Cantrell Rogers.

He was preceded in death by his father, Don Birdsong Rogers; his paternal grandparents, Leatha Rogers and Malcolm Rogers; His Aunt Gail Rogers and Uncle Randy Rogers.

Ben cared deeply about the well-being of others and believed that everyone deserves a safe place to live.
