Billy Lee Jennings



Brevard - Billy Lee Jennings, 66, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 31, 2008 at Transylvania Community Hospital.

A native of Kingsport, TN, he was the son of the late Hansel Robert and Flora Ann Hunter Jennings.

Mr. Jennings was a veteran of the US Air Force, serving during the Vietnam Era. He had umpired in Brevard and Rosman and had served as a volunteer with the Henderson County Sheriffs Dept., the Transylvania County Sheriffs Dept., and the Brevard Police Dept. He had worked at Head Start and had served as a service officer for American Legion Post #88, Brevard. Mr. Jennings was a member of Carr's Hill Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Linda Jamerson Jennings, daughter, Sandra Jennings of Johnson, City, TN; son, Tracy Jennings of Big Stone Gap, VA; step daughters, Spring Wilgen of Brevard, Dawn Murr of Pisgah Forest, and Brandy McElroy of Sapphire; step brother, James Bishop of Johnson City, TN; 5 grandchildren.

The memorial service will be held at 7 PM Tuesday at Carr's Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Brian Detrick officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 6:30 PM Tuesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carr's Hill Baptist Church, 2719 Greenville Hwy., Brevard, NC 28712.
