Carl Lee Garren

Carl Lee Garren, age 93, of Brevard, N.C., passed away on January 28, 2026, at his residence in Carolina Reserve of Laurel Park in Hendersonville, N.C. 

Carl was born on July 31, 1932, in Brevard, N.C.  Carl graduated from Brevard High School. He met and married Geraldine Owens on June 30, 1964. He was the beloved “Daddy” of Curtis Garren, Brenda Garren, William Bruce Garren, Michelle Garren-Flye, and Robert “Bobby” Garren.

A Korean War veteran and long-time employee of DuPont, Carl retired in 1991. He remained a familiar face in Brevard for years after, however, working at Harris Hardware, Brevard Motor Lodge, and as a greeter at Walmart. He was a lover of all animals, but he and Gerry spent many of their later years rescuing homeless cats. They were generous supporters of many charities, both local and national, most of which benefitted either animals or children.

Carl was predeceased by his wife, Gerry, his parents and siblings, Clarence, Ed, Harold, Roy, and Elizabeth; and two sons, Gordon Wayne and Curtis.

He is survived by his brother, Craig; children, Brenda, Bruce and wife Amanda, Michelle, and Bobby and wife Mandy; grandchildren, Jennifer Garren, Kimberly Garren, Jon Garren, Tina Garren, Jack Garren, Carl Garren, Nichole Garren, Joshua Flye, Benjamin Flye, and Jessica Flye, 17 great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at Gillespie Evergreen Cemetery at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2026. Funeral Honors will be presented by the United States Army and the Transylvania County Honor Guard.
