Clarence Metcalf

Clarence Cheat Metcalf, 85, of Brevard, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2016. A native of Asheville, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Clarence Cheat and Toy Deaver Metcalf. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his brothers Blaine Metcalf, Everette Metcalf and Kenneth Metcalf and sister Ruth Souther.
Mr. Metcalf was a member of Calvary Baptist Mission and had worked for Dupont for twenty-seven years.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sarah M. Metcalf; children Stanley Metcalf and wife Debbie of Brevard, Steve Metcalf and wife Teresa of Brevard, Sheila Snipes and husband Gene of Brevard, Gary Johnson and wife Susan of Knoxville, TN, and Mark Johnson of Wilmington, NC.; grandchildren Brent, Kyle, Jennifer, A.J., Gina, Cody, and Page; great-grandchildren Marley Ruth and Farrah Blake and Keenen; and his sister Clara Hayes and husband Richard of Mills River.
Funeral Services for Clarence Metcalf will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Calvary Baptist Mission with Rev. Shane Green and grandson, Rev. Brent Metcalf officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 P.M., prior to the service.
