Brevard - Ernest J. Field, 81, died Sunday, August 8, 2010 at Transylvania Regional Hospital.

He was born on March 27, 1929 to the late Carll and Lillian Tardieu Field. Ernest's family included his two brothers, Carl and Raymond and a sister Lillian Jermine.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Dorothy J. Field; three sons, Ernie Field and wife Dania of Newington, CT, Brian Field and wife Lisa Ready of Manor, TX, and Joe Field of Duluth, GA; and four grandsons.

Ernest was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He loved all sports. His sons will always fondly remember his quote, " It's not the size of the man in the fight, but rather the size of the fight in the man."

A private celebration of Ernest's life will be held at a later date.
