Gail G. Baynard

Gail G. Baynard, 86, of Penrose, passed away on April 2, 2026. A native of Transylvania County, she was the daughter of the late William Odell and Mellie Jemison Gray.

A long-time legal secretary in Brevard, she also worked in the field of banking and finance for a number of years before retiring only to begin caring for others. She had a special gift for taking care of others, from her children to new friends needing her help.

She enjoyed canning and ceramics and was a hard-worker in everything she did. She was gifted at many things, but she was foremost a good mama to her children.

Her loving survivors include her children: Andy Baynard (Anna Maria Chavez), Darlene Burgess and daughter-in-law Theresa Franks; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside service for Gail Baynard will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory in Pisgah Forest.
