Grace Jeanette Rowe, 83, of Monroe, GA, formerly of Brevard, passed away on August 4, 2026.
Grace was born in Brevard, NC on January 9, 1943. She attended Rosenwald Elementary School, then moved to Atlanta, GA. where she graduated from Washington High School.
Grace accepted Christ Jesus at an early age and became a member of Bethel Baptist Church before relocating to Atlanta and became a member of Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church in Decatur, GA., where she served faithfully as a member of the Trustee Board, Steward Board and as a Sunday Morning Bible Study teacher. She dearly loved the Church, its people and wanted to do whatever she could to assist in helping in helping to lead people closer to the Lord. After her husband was called into the ministry, she became an exemplary example of what a minister’s wife should be in loving the Lord, her husband and the people of God.
She retired from the then Dekalb Medical Center in 1999, after 25 years as a member of the Environmental Services Department and working faithfully until being promoted, first group leader and then as a night shift supervisor.
She was married to the late Rev. Acey Rowe, Jr., who preceded her in death in 2017 after 59 years of marriage. They lived in the city of Decatur, Georgia for than forty years. She decorated their home for every holiday of the year, but especially for the Christmas season; not only for its closeness in bringing the family together, but as she proclaimed proudly that, “Jesus is the reason for the season.” Additionally, one year, their home was featured as part of the Decatur Tour of Homes.
She was a wonderful and loving mother to Ricky, Sonya and Andre and adored her four grandchildren: Mario, Jeremiah, Kezia and Andrew; and two great-grandchildren, Ace and Ronald (Ronnie).
Grace was preceded in death by her father and mother: Allie V. and Flora B. Aiken; eight sisters: Bertha Rhodes, Nancy Day, Willie Kate Roberson, Allie Bell Mackey, Frankie Reid, Inez Mooney, Marlene Aiken and Janie Lynch. She leaves to mourn two surviving sisters, Rose McKee Long Island, NY) and Margot Clark (Philadelphia, PA); one brother, Connie Williams (Pocono Mtns, PA); and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Graveside services for Grace Rowe will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, August 14, 2026 at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory in Pisgah Forest.
Moore-Blanchard Funerals & Cremations is honored to serve the family.
