Roscoe James “Jim” Alderman Passed away on April 27, 2025 at his home surrounded by family and friends. A Brevard native, he was born to Mabel McNeely Alderman and Roscoe James Alderman on March 8, 1948. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Joann Alderman Baker.
With his kind heart and quick wit he leaves a legacy of love, friendships and service to his family, friends and community.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Becky Egerton Alderman; sons Simon Alderman (Stephanie) and Aaron Alderman (Kathy); cousins Jean McNeely Martin (Paul), Gail McNeely Wilson (Willie), Lewis McNeely (Cheryl) and Bill McNeely (Myrt).
A graduate of Brevard College and The University of Tennessee, Jim practiced architecture for almost 50 years, work he did well and loved. He always believed architecture was a service and worked to give his clients the homes and buildings they wanted, with only the occasional “nudging in the right direction.”
Jim believed he was obligated to serve in other areas and used his time and talents to work with many community organizations, primarily Habitat for Humanity, Mary C. Jenkins Center, Red Cross, City of Brevard Planning and Zoning, Meals on Wheels, Brevard First United Methodist Church and many private missions.
A Celebration of the life of Jim Alderman will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Brevard First United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Brevard First United Methodist Church, 325 N. Broad St., Brevard, NC 28712.
Moore-Blanchard Funerals & Cremations is honored to serve the family.
