Joanna Byrd

Joanna Shipman Byrd, 83, of Brevard, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at her home. A Brevard native, she was the daughter of the late Gertha F. and Mildred Hamilton Shipman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth D. Byrd; her sister, Virginia S. Manley and her brother, Gertha E. Shipman.

Her loving survivors include her children: Kim Rogers (Steve) of Brevard, Kenny Byrd (Sheila) of Brevard and Lisa Dobbins (Al) of Mills River; grandchildren: Micah Rogers (Laurin), Jasmyn Denton (Lyle), Anna Travieso (Oliver), Brittany Byrd, Will Byrd, Katherine Purcell (Nathan), Emily Barnes (David), Breanna Dobbins; and great-grandchildren: Judah, Ezra, Ada, Lucas, Evan, Olivia, Lola, David and baby Barnes. She is also survived by her sister, Sarah S. Julen and sister-in-law, Norma Shipman.

There will be a celebration held in the future.
