Lois Elaine Woody

Lois Elaine Woody of Penrose passed away Saturday October 24, 2026, at the Elizabeth House in Hendersonville, NC at the age of 91. Born in Spring Grove, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Percy and Cora Altland Sterner. Along with her parents she was also preceded in death by husband JC Woody and daughter Tanya West.

Lois met her husband in high school and were soon married. Together they raised four children. Many of those years together were on a dairy farm in Penrose, NC. Lois wasn’t afraid of hard work. She took great pride in keeping a well-kept home. In the summertime she usually could be found in her flower beds that she so loved. On occasion she would cook a pot of chicken corn soup or bake a batch of oatmeal raisin cookies along with a pie or two.

She earned her CNA certification and worked at the Brian Center in Brevard, NC, for 20 years. Over many years she collected bells. Bells, bells and more bells. One will be placed in her casket.

Survived by children Sheila (David) Nicholson, Craig Woody, Lisa (Bob) Garren. Grandchildren 6, great grandchildren 11, nieces and nephews, great-nephews and great-nieces.
