Nathan Lee Mathis

Nathan Lee Mathis, 45, of Brevard, passed away on April7, 2025 at Mission Hospital in Asheville. A native of Brevard, he was the son of Nancy C. Owen.

A graduate of Brevard High School, Nathan had worked at the Transylvania County Library for 24 years where he never met a stranger. Always happy, he loved life and meeting and studying people, places and cultures. He enjoyed staying at hotels and motels.

He had a genuine interest in all people, but his favorite people were his family and his favorite person was his mom, Nancy.

His loving survivors include his mother, Nancy Owen (Les Whitmire); his sister Julie Ledbetter and his brother, Christpher Whitmire; his aunts: Freda Branham, Ethel Bingham (James) and Melissa Whitmire, and his uncle, Phillip Owen.
