Robert Eugene Bennett

Robert Eugene Bennett, 80, of Etowah, NC, passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2026. A native of Henderson County, he was the son of the late Ralph and Mae Hollingsworth Bennett. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Bennett, and his sister, Nina Barnwell.

He retired from Kimber-Clark after a 32-year career with the company. A member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, he enjoyed being with people and sharing his zest for life. He enjoyed family dinners and get-togethers, loving the time he could spend together with both family and good friends.

He enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening and working around his yard, but his greatest love was his family.

His loving survivors include his wife of 41 years, Wanda Rice Bennett; his step-daughter, Michelle Renee Forbes (James); grandchildren Jessica Rhodes, Malana Dotson (Ryan), Brandon Crocker (Valerie), Noah Forbes and Evan Forbes; great-grandchildren Peyton, Grayson, Kendall, Bentley, Jaxson, Audrey and Riley; his brother-in-law, Terry Rice; long-time friends Allen Heatherly, Dawn Heatherly, the late Ronnie Heatherly, and several nieces and nephews.
