Bob Miller died on June 12, 2026, at the age of 90. He loved to laugh, tell jokes, and eat butter pecan ice cream. He always said he was a wimp —afraid of pain and violence—and that if most men were like him, there would be peace on the planet.
Bob had no children but made lots of kids laugh. He showed little ones how to dig a hole and yell into it so that their favorite Chinese takeout food would appear a few minutes later. He so enjoyed watching all his dear young folks grow up and flourish. He spent many years as a social worker, both in New York City and South Carolina. He hated the paperwork but loved his patients and co-workers.
Bob also loved his friends and his family—both blood and found, both city and mountain, and loved his wife Roberta and told her that every day for all their decades, first as friends and then as spouses. He missed his dear brother who died years ago and relished his time with his nephew and great nephew and all his brother’s in-laws, including his chocolate making sister-in-law. If he were giving you advice, it would include telling you to laugh as often as possible, to be kind… and most of all, to never be cruel.
Thank you for any donations in his memory you wish to give to Four Seasons Hospice, 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731 or The Brevard Philharmonic, P. O. Box 1547, Brevard, NC 28712 A gathering will be held in the near future to share and hear “Bob Stories.”
