Steve Gates

Steve Larry Gates, 66, of Brevard, passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2017. A native of Transylvania County, he was the son of the late Vince and Victoria Chapman Gates. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Victoria Elaine Gates.
He worked as a block mason for a number of years and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also loved working in his yard and raising chickens and dogs.
His survivors include his partner of 27 years, Nina Price; his children: Chris Fisher and wife Kim of Canton, NC, Brandy Smith and husband Jeremy of Asheville, NC, Candace Russell and husband Joey of Asheville, NC, Wayne Butler and wife Christine of Gillette, WY, and Donna McIntyre of Flowery Branch, GA; and grandchildren Cambria Fisher, Cameron Smith, Tatum Smith, Connor Russell, Jencynn Russell, Ramsey Butler, Valkyrie Butler and Henley Adams.
