Sue A. Green, 80, passed away peacefully in her home on June 5, 2025. Born on June 13, 1944 in Greenville, Tennessee, she grew up in Daytona Beach, Florida, where she graduated from Seabreeze High School.
Sue was married to her husband, Stan Green, for 40 years. A devoted mother, she raised four children: Kenny Lovett, Kathy Lovett (deceased), Kristy Somerton (fiancé Patrick Shanahan), and Keith Lovett (wife Stacy Lovett). Her legacy continues through her eight grandchildren — Kody Lovett (wife Theresa Lovett), Kayla Lovett, Kyliegh Somerton, Cole Somerton, Kyle Lovett, Kaitlin Lovett, Kelsey Lovett, and Korey Lovett—and two great-grandchildren, Hallie and Rhys Lovett.
Sue dedicated much of her life to her career as a paralegal, where her diligence and compassion shone brightly. She was a force of nature, known for her sassy wit that could light up a room and her tough-as-nails resilience that carried her through life’s challenges with unwavering strength. Whether she was playfully sparring with a quick comeback or fiercely protecting her loved ones, Sue’s spirited personality left an indelible mark on everyone she met. She loved everyone fiercely and gave selflessly, always putting others before herself.
Her joys in life were many—she loved shopping, dining out, and trips to the beach, with Captiva holding a special place in her heart as her favorite escape. A passionate NASCAR fan, Sue reveled in the thrill of the race, but her true passion was music. She adored the soulful, rebellious twang of Willie Nelson, whose lyrics seemed to echo her own free spirit, the electrifying classics of Elvis Presley, whose voice could make her dance no matter the day, and the raw, heartfelt storytelling of Merle Haggard, whose songs of struggle and redemption resonated deeply with her own life’s journey. Good music was the heartbeat of her home, filling every corner with joy and memories as she sang along with gusto or shared stories of the concerts she’d never forget.
Above all, Sue’s faith in God was the rock she leaned on through every storm. She lived with a deep devotion, trusting in His guidance and finding peace in His promises. One of her cherished scriptures was Psalm 23:1, *"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want,"* a verse that reflected her unwavering belief that she was never alone, no matter the trial. Her love for her children and grandchildren was the center of her world, and she poured her heart into them with the same strength and grace she drew from her faith.
Sue’s warmth, kindness, and larger-than-life spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of love, laughter, and unshakable faith will live on forever!
