Thomas Tartt

Thomas E. “Tom” Tartt, 81, of Brevard, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2022. A native of Paducah, Kentucky, he was the son of the late James Edward and Dorothy Washam Tartt.

A graduate of Auburn University where he received his degree in Industrial Engineering, Tom worked with Olin/ Ecusta in Brevard and also with Western Carolina Industries. After his retirement, he volunteered at Transylvania Regional Hospital.  A Boy Scout in his younger years, he held to the mantra of always “being prepared” for any situation that may arise.

He was a hard worker, dedicated to his friends and to his church, and a true gentleman in every respect.  He was detail oriented, and detail driven, yet always willing to share a kind word, a helpful hand, a meaningful handshake and a hearty “War Eagle!”

His greatest joy was his family. His wife of 57 years, Molly W. Tartt; their children: Ann Tartt Stovall (Ken) of Kennesaw, Ga., and John Tartt (Sherri) of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren Kennedy Elizabeth Tartt and Thomas Winslow Stovall; and his sister, Jane Elizabeth Seymore (James).

Arrangements for the service to honor Tom will be announced at a later date.
