Commander William “Bill” Robertson, USN (Ret.), went to his heavenly home on October 6, 2025. A pragmatist with a dry sense of humor, Bill was steadfastly honest and held a firm Christian faith. He was a long-term member and alter server at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Bill served his country for 23 years as an engineer in the U.S. Navy Civil Engineer Corps (CEC) and as a Seabee building bridges, roads, and schools in Vietnam.
Responsible and hard-working, Bill was a calm, steady, loyal, involved presence for his family and was the living definition of sacrificial love. If anyone was in a jam, Bill was your man. He enjoyed hiking, sailing, crossword puzzles and music, volunteered at the Brevard Music Center, and participated in church choirs. Born in Texas, he traveled around the world in his military service and for pleasure but loved the North Carolina mountains in his retirement.
Bill is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Michel; sisters Elaine and Helen (Gary), daughters Elizabeth (Mark), Susan, and Christine (Jim); grandchildren Elizabeth, Ethan, Ryan, Morgan, Connor, and Pavan; and great-grandson Dylan.
A Memorial Mass for Bill will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Brevard with Father Shawn O'Neal officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or the Veteran’s History Museum of the Carolinas in Brevard.
In the words used by Vietnam veterans as they greet each other: “Welcome Home, Brother.”
